The Fulbright Program unveils a new identity
Since its creation by the U.S. Senate in 1946, the Fulbright Program has provided more than 390,000 people worldwide with the opportunity to study, teach, conduct research, exchange ideas, and contribute to finding solutions to complex international challenges. Led by the United States government in partnership with 49 binational commissions and 160 countries worldwide, Fulbright offers unique international and cultural exchange programs for passionate and accomplished students, scholars, artists, teachers, and professionals of all backgrounds.
For over 65 years the Fulbright Commission has been the cornerstone of educational exchange programs between the U.S. and Sri Lanka, upholding Senator J. William Fulbright’s vision of bringing people together and moving nations towards a more peaceful world. Over 2000 Sri Lankan and U.S. citizens have engaged in Fulbright exchange programs between the two countries and have brought the people of Sri Lanka and the people of the United States closer together, while training Sri Lankans and building capacity in the country.
On March 22, 2019, the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board and U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) unveiled an updated Fulbright Program brand identity. The refreshed identity and new logo establishes the Fulbright Program’s renewed commitment to its mission: to forge lasting connections, counter global misunderstandings, and help people and nations work together toward common goals. With the updated brand messaging, Fulbright emphasizes that this prestigious opportunity is open to the most talented and passionate students, scholars, and professionals from all backgrounds in the United States and countries around the world. The updated Fulbright logo, with its F-shaped latitude and longitude lines stretched across the globe, represents the impact that Fulbright’s global network creates through lasting connections. Fulbright’s worldwide community is its greatest strength, and by leveraging today’s technology, Fulbright seeks to encourage and support those connections.
