Celebrating International Education Week 2020
International Education Week (IEW) is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education and is dedicated to celebrate and advocate for the importance and benefits of international education and educational exchange worldwide. Studying, teaching, conducting research and interning abroad as well as collaborative educational activities and learning a foreign language, are all activities that foster mutual understanding between people and countries and prepare citizens of the world to be more globally engaged and strengthen bi-national relationships between countries.
The theme of IEW this year is Engaged. Resilient. Global. – some important traits and benefits of international education.This year in particular, when the world has been shaken by a global pandemic that has impacted travel and study abroad as well, it is important to appreciate and celebrate the tremendous benefits of international education and exchange.
Join the U.S.-Sri Lanka Fulbright Commission (US-SLFC), from November 16-20, 2020,as we celebrate educational exchanges between the United States and Sri Lanka that have contributed towards bringing the people of the United States and people of Sri Lanka closer together.
As part of our activities for International Education Week, we will be conducting a Black and White Photo Contest based on the theme: Engaged. Resilient. Global.
Who can participate in this competition: All Sri Lankan students who are currently studying in the United States, Sri Lankan alumni and American alumni (educational exchange students/scholars to Sri Lanka)
Photograph submission deadline: Saturday, November 14, 2020
The winners will be announced on: Friday, November 20, 2020
All submissions will be posted on our official Facebook pages in the form of an online exhibition.
