The US-SLFC welcomes a new cohort of American Fulbright Grantees to Sri Lanka at an Orientation Program

The US-SLFC conducted a 4-day in-country Orientation Program for the new cohort of U.S Fulbright Grantees at the Fulbright Commission. The Orientation program included presentations on important information that will help the U.S. grantees successfully transition to Sri Lanka and to gain a better understanding of the country and culture as they prepare for their Fulbright journey in Sri Lanka. This year’s orientation included some interactive sessions with a Colombo city tour, shopping, a cooking demonstration and dinner with local host families. Through these activities the grantees were able to network with each other and meet some Sri Lankans from the community including Sri Lankan Fulbright Alumni. The 2018 cohort of grantees includes 5 Fulbright English Language Teaching Assistants, 3 Fulbright Student Researchers and 4 Fulbright Senior Scholars and they will be conducting research, teaching and collaborative projects in partnership with various academic and other institutions in Sri Lanka. U.S. Fulbright grantees are ambassadors of exchange and will foster understanding between the people of Sri Lanka and the people of the United States.
