WHEN TO WORRY? WHAT TO DO?: THE NEUROLOGY OF EARLY CHILD DEVELOPMENT - A session by U.S. Fulbright Scholar Prof. John Phillips

This lecture will look at what shapes personality. How early childhood experiences persist into adulthood. Whether parenting Matters. And when things aren’t going well, when development lags behind or a child’s brain is injured, what you could. There will be three parts to the presentation. First, an overview of normal early child development. Next a brief discussion of examples of types of abnormal development such as autism and toxic exposures in utero. Finally, on what is known about the neurology of early intervention. Interested parents, professionals and concerned citizens are encouraged to attend.

Dr Phillips is a Professor and Director of Child Neurology, and Medical Director of the Mind Research Network, at the University of New Mexico, USA. His research interests include neuroimaging of child development and research ethics. He is currently in Sri Lanka as a Senior Fulbright Scholar.
