ECKERD COLLEGE APPLICATION FEE WAIVER

Eckerd College, a small liberal arts and sciences college in St Petersburg, Florida will be waiving the application fee for all applicants until December

1.

Students can apply to Eckerd through our Early Action program or through rolling admission. Those students who submit a completed application in the Early Action process will receive their decision and scholarship information by December 15. Eckerd’s Early Action deadline is November 15. Students who do not apply Early Action will be reviewed in our rolling admission pool and we will begin reviewing those applications on December Decisions take approximately 4-6 weeks for applicants. Students who apply Early Action or rolling have until May 1 to make their decision, there is no commitment needed through these processes.

THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH DAKOTA INTERNATIONAL STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS

The first thing you should know about The University of North Dakota

NeXXt Scholars is an initiative to increase opportunities for young women to pursue undergraduate degrees in the science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields at U.S. women’s colleges. Benfits of this initiative include:

VANDERBILT UNIVERSITY NEED-BASED FINANCIAL AID

Every year, Vanderbilt offers need-based financial aid to qualified students from around the world. In the most recent admissions cycle, 22 international students from 17 different countries were awarded need-based packages ranging from USD $30,000-$60,000 per year for four years. To be eligible for

need-based financial aid, students must submit either the International Student Financial Aid

Application or the College Board’s International CSS/PROFILE.

Vanderbilt’s need-based financial aid program guarantees that all admitted students will receive financial aid to meet 100% of the student’s demonstrated financial need; this aid will be awarded in the form of grants that do not need to be repaid. Vanderbilt’s financial aid awards do not include loans.

VALDOSTA STATE UNIVERSITY INTERNATIONAL STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS

Valdosta State University is pleased to be able to award International Student Scholarships (ISS) or out-of-state tuition waivers to qualified students. The International Student Scholarship (ISS) is a full waiver of the out-of-state portion of tuition and allows international students to pay in-state tuition and fees. The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of demonstrated academic ability, evidence of extracurricular involvement, and financial need.

THE UNIVERSITY OF KANSAS SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS

The University of Kansas, a comprehensive research institution with 14 academic schools and over 190 fields of study, offers bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees, as well as programs for intensive English study.

The University of Kansas awards some partial, merit-based scholarships. Some scholarships are for the first year of study only and some are renewable. KU also collaborates with the Institute of International Education (IIE) to award several renewable tuition scholarships to new undergraduate students with outstanding academic and leadership profiles. Graduate students may be considered for graduate teaching, graduate research assistantships or fellowships awarded by graduate programs and academic departments.

AMBASSADOR OF NEPAL VISITS VIRGINIA INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY

On Thursday November 3, 2011 the School of Business and President Dr. Isa Sarac welcomed the Ambassador of Nepal, Dr. Shankar P. Sharma to Virginia International University to address students, staff, and

faculty. The Ambassador’s message on Competitiveness in Globalization resonated with many students in the School of Business who are currently studying in Global Logistics and International Business.

Kolawole Bakare, an International Business student from Nigeria said, “I am currently taking a course in Comparative Government and the Ambassador summarized the major points of the course, which for me was a great advantage. It gave me a clear picture and greater understanding of government systems.”

THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY ANNOUNCES NEW TOEFL REQUIREMENT FOR LL.M. APPLICANTS

The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law’s LL.M. Program is

excited to announce a new TOEFL requirement for all LL.M. applicants to the program. Effective immediately, the new minimum English proficiency score for LL.M. applicants is 80 on the TOEFL iBT (with a corresponding minimum score of 7.0 on the IELTS).

Students with an interest in the LL.M. degree, and an appropriate English proficiency score, are encouraged to apply! Admissions are rolling, and the application deadline is April 15, 2012.
