Pre-departure Orientation 2010
CONGRATULATIONS on your decision to study in the United States!
US-SLFC conducts the PDO (Pre-Departure Orientation) early July each year in Colombo for those students who have received admission to US universities for fall semester 2010.
Date: Friday, July 9th 2010
Time: 1.00 – 7.00 p.m.
Venue: Trans Asia Hotel, Colombo
The PDO will assist you in better preparing for & understanding educational, social, & cultural life in the US
Topics to be covered :
• traveling to the US / port of entry/maintaining F1 Visa Status
• culture-shock ( video)
• U.S. academic expectations
• socio-cultural adjustments
• Employment opportunities on return
• Living and studying in the U.S.
The U.S. Ambassador will grace the occasion
The panelists include U.S. Embassy personnel, Consular officers, American students and professors, as well as current Sri Lankan students who have returned home for the vacation or after completing their degrees (grad / undergrad) in the US
Undergraduate and Graduate students can interact with each other and will also meet others going to the same universities.

F1 Visa Seminar
The US-Sri Lanka Fulbright Commission will host a seminar on the "F1 Student Visa to the US" at the Commission’s auditorium. This seminar is free for the public.

Time: 3.00 p.m. ( registration begins at 2.45 p.m. )
