  • Study in the U.S.A. Group Orientation Sessions: These sessions are conducted in order to provide prospective students general information on admission requirements, how to select universities/colleges, the application procedure, information on standardized tests (SAT/ACT/GRE/GMAT/TOEFL), scholarship opportunities, etc. Prior registration is required for these free group sessions.


  • Individual Advising Services: After attending one of our Orientation Sessions, if the students still have any questions or doubts regarding the application process, the Student Adviser is available by appointment to assist students who need specific information or particular help on any part of the application process. This service is available at a nominal fee.


  • Virtual Advising Services: The EducationUSA Team will be available for live chat sessions on facebook to answer your questions about U.S. education. Please visit our facebook page every Wednesday between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. to join our Live Chat session:


  • Membership: Members of the United States – Sri Lanka Fulbright Commission (US-SLFC) Library may borrow books from the Advising Center Library for overnight loan. Members also receive free individual advising sessions with the adviser and also receive free access to all our paid workshops.


  • Special Admission Preparation Workshops: The EducationUSA Advising Center conducts workshops on ‘Finding Scholarships/Financial Aid’, ‘Writing effective College Admissions Essays/ Statement of Purpose’ and ‘Writing effective Letters of Recommendation.’ All sessions are for both Undergraduates and Graduates and it aims to provide potential applicants with the necessary skills and techniques to produce a successful college application.


  • Reference Library: The US-SLFC’s library has an extensive collection of college/university guides, catalogues, application forms, CDs, videos, test preparatory material and reference books on various aspects of higher education in the U.S. The library can be accessed free-of-charge Monday to Friday between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.


  • Visa Seminars: The US-SLFC conducts free Visa Seminars in collaboration with the consular section of the U.S. Embassy in Colombo. These sessions aim to help students to prepare for the U.S. student visa interview. The Visa Sessions are free-of-charge. However, prior registration is required.


  • Pre-Departure Orientations: The US-SLFC conducts orientation for students who have obtained F1 student visas. The session aims to provide information on living and studying in the U.S.A., cultural issues, academic integrity and visa regulations. Prior registration is required if you wish to attend these sessions.


  • Computer Corner: Students have access to the internet and test preparatory software for the following exams: TOEFL, GRE, GMAT and SAT.


  • Authentication of Educational Documents: After careful scrutiny, the US-SLFC authenticates academic transcripts from local schools and universities and other educational documents from accredited S. Colleges and Universities that students need to submit to American universities as part of their application.
