PITT PAL PROGRAM BRINGS AMERICAN AND INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS TOGETHER

Every semester at Pittsburg State University, an American student is paired up with an international student to help make their transition easier. Becoming a PITT Pal gives the American student valuable cross cultural experiences while at the same time providing the international student with somebody to help make their transition smoother into the American culture.

GEORGE WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS OFFERS ONLINE INFORMATION SESSIONS

The mission of the Elliott School of International Affairs is simple but profoundly important: to sponsor scholarship that advances our understanding of international problems, and to educate and train the next generation of national and international leaders.
The Elliott School will be holding online information sessions every Wednesday throughout January. The sessions will be held at 11 a.m. EST. In addition, admissions staff will also be holding online office hours to help answer questions about the application process.

SYRACUSE UNIVERSITY DEVELOPS “LEGAL ENGLISH” COURSE

Syracuse University (SU) College of Law, in partnership with SU’s English Language Institute, will be offering a “Legal English” course during the 2013 Summer session. This course is available to international students enrolled in the College of Law’s Master of Laws (LL.M.) in American Law.
The “Legal English” course comprises three components designed to provide a foundation in legal terminology and language usage in various areas (listening, speaking, reading, legal research, and writing) for nonnative speakers of English who intend to earn an LL.M. degree in the United States. All components include group and pair work as well as individual assignments. The course provides 25 instructional hours per week.

MORE THAN 81,000 INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS STUDY AT U.S. COMMUNITY COLLEGES

According to the 2012 Open Doors Report published by the Institute of International Education, more than 81,000 international students studied at U.S. community colleges in the 2011/12 academic year.
Community colleges develop special agreements with 4-year colleges and universities so that credits and degrees transfer between the institutions. In this “2+2 process,” you can earn a bachelor’s degree with two years of community college followed by two years of university study.
