NEXXT SCHOLARS FUNDING FOR WOMEN IN SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, AND MATH

NeXXt Scholars is an initiative to increase opportunities for young women

to pursue undergraduate degrees in the science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields at U.S. women’s colleges. A few benefits of this initiative include:

– Five-year membership to the New York Academy of Sciences (four years during undergraduate studies + one year post-graduation)

– Individual STEM Mentor and networking opportunities

SUNY PLATTSBURGH ACADEMIC- AND NEED-BASED FINANCIAL AID

We are delighted to welcome international students from around the globe

to SUNY Plattsburgh: an academically-challenging, beautiful, safe, and friendly place where professors and staff will help you discover your full potential.

SUNY Plattsburgh is still accepting applications from international freshmen and transfers for the fall

2012 semester. In addition, we are still awarding financial aid and scholarships to eligible students. Financial aid packages range in value from $2,500 to $10,000 depending on country of residence, academic achievement, and demonstrated financial need. The total billed cost of attendance for the

2012-2013 academic year is approximately $28,000. Therefore the net billed cost after financial aid would be between $18,000 and $25,500.

At Robert Morris University, the individual attention provided by our supportive faculty will guide you along from the first day of class until you graduate. Our associate, baccalaureate, and master degree programs will provide you with the skills and the hands-on experience you need to stand out in a tight job market or to choose the best opportunity in a field where you are in great demand.

All students enrolling in the Health Care Administration Masters program at Robert Morris University will get a scholarship for $2,200 per concentration course. The total scholarship amount is $8,800 and the award applies through fall of 2012.

DHS ANNOUNCES EXPANDED LIST OF STEM DEGREE PROGRAMS

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced an expanded

list of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) designated-degree programs that qualify eligible graduates on student visas for an optional practical training (OPT) extension. This announcement builds on a series of administrative reforms designed to further the Department’s commitment to attracting international students.

"Attracting the best and brightest international talent to our colleges and universities and enabling them to contribute to their professional growth is an important part of our nation’s economic, scientific and technological competitiveness," said Secretary of Homeland Security Janet
