CLARK UNIVERSITY GRADUATE SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT LAUNCHES MBA IN SUSTAINABILITY

Clark University Graduate School of Management (GSOM) launches

MBA in Sustainability. This innovative program couples the principles of environmental sustainability with the business strategies and fundamentals necessary to achieve responsible management at both the local and global level.

“GSOM has been offering sustainability courses for more than 15 years, and through this concentration we are formalizing our offerings by providing students with a chance to be recognized as tomorrow’s sustainability leaders in their organizations,” said Joseph Sarkis, GSOM professor of management and a leading global expert in green supply chain management and operations sustainability.

An MBA in Sustainability from Clark will prepare graduates for today’s evolving job market—one in which for-profit and not-for-profit organizations increasingly seek sustainability managers with both a background in science and a deep understanding of strategy, business processes, management practices and government policy.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS GET A TASTE OF COLLEGE FOOTBALL

Sport Management Professor Nick Watanabe delivered a lecture at Beijing Sport University. In trying to use baseball and football to explain commercial opportunities, it became clear that the example was lost on most students since they were unfamiliar with the American sports.

In order to bridge this cultural gap, Watanabe created an event for 150 international students at the University of Missouri to meet with the college’s football team and learn about the rules and nature of the game.

At the event, international students will learn about the lives of student-athletes, tour facilities, participate in an on-field clinic, and eat lunch at a tailgate. The hope is that international students will come to understand America’s passion for football, and get excited and participate in college football Saturdays.
