Workshop on Voice for the Professional Speaker
The US-SL Fulbright Commission will be conducting a one-day workshop for people who speak professionally.
This workshop suits people who speak as part of their work such as actors, attorneys and presenters. This hands-on, interactive workshop will introduce Fitzmaurice Voicework to free the body and voice, and incorporate efficient breath and speech techniques for public speaking.
The course will address the following topics:
* Release body tension that may inhibit speech
* Introduce Fitzmaurice Voicework concepts: destructuring and restructuring
* Adapt exercises based on yoga and bioenergetics to vocal training
* Apply Fitzmaurice Voicework to text
Associate Professor Artemis Preeshl teaches acting for the camera, directing, movement, dialects, voice and speech at Loyola University New Orleans. She has taught Fitzmaurice Voicework in Malaysia, Kosovo, India, The Ukraine and the U.S. Artemis has performed half of Shakespeare’s canon and directed 15 Shakespeare plays. A certified Assistant Teacher of Fitzmaurice Voicework, Preeshl is a Fulbright-Nehru Senior Researcher at Kalakshetra Foundation in Chennai where she is conducting research on 2D and 3D Visual Literacy in theater, dance and film.
The US-SL Fulbright Commission was founded in 1952 by an Agreement between the Government of the United States of America and the Government of Ceylon for the administration of educational exchange programmes in Sri Lanka. The programme aims to promote cultural understanding between the United States and Sri Lanka through mutual academic exchange.

- Workshop Fee: Rs. 1250/= (includes lunch and tea).
Free of charge for anyone under 18 years.
The workshop will be limited to 25–30 participants.
Registration will be on a first-come first-served basis.
Please bring a reed mat or a sheet for the workshop.
